Oak
Post-Rock – STRASBOURG
Oak is a post-rock band from Strasbourg, France who has been around since 2009.

Oak / moyan – Split
2023 (ITAWAK031)

Reviews :
‘Not Afraid Anymore’ is definitely one of my favorite releases of 2013. Highly recommended for fans of Rest (Cork, Ireland), What The Blood Revealed, Barrows, Fargo, Anna Purna, Red Sparrowes, and Daturah.
If you enjoy powerful and intelligent instrumental rock, you will love this record – trust me.

Oak writes surprisingly strong songs for a young band, skilfully using the main stylistic elements of post-rock, but without falling into superficiality or clichés. This is largely due to the subtle ambient undertone, which provides just a little more depth. In addition, the melancholy ‘touch’ of the band works very well (highlighted by the way So Tired Of This Sickness… and …It Has To End Soon merge into each other). It ensures that Not Afraid Anymore also resembles the excellent last album of Followed By Ghosts.
Moreover, the album has been given a warm production that feels like a soothing bath.
Highly recommended, this debut album by Oak.
